Oh Calamity

Woe is me, my life is a swirling torrent of pain and misery. The hole in my soul can only be filled by the vast emptiness of space. For I am...woah, waitaminute. This isn't livejournal. Sorry about that. Anyway, freakin Arrested Development got freakin cancelled. I blame YOU! You heard about it many times, 'Oh yeah, I'll have to check that out' you said. LIAR! The best show on freakin TV got freakin cancelled. You can make it up, however. Amazon.com has a great deal going, seasons 1 and 2 for $31. Go there now and buy it. You will not regret it, and if you don't, you will hurt me beyond repair...or not. Whatever, just get it and watch it on mondays at 8 for its last few shows, or continue to watch your stupid reality bullshit and crappy sitcoms.
OK, onto more happy things. Guitar Hero. If you don't know what that is, you must come over and play it. You will love it, and that's a guaran-damn-tee. I mean, come on, who doesn't want to play fake guitar in a ddr fashion to freakin "I want to be sedated" or maybe "Godzilla"? Yeah, I thought so. Play it, love it, buy it.
Wow, I just realized that I'm tryin to sell a bunch of things that I won't get anything for. Hows about this, you like AD or GH, you pay me $5 for telling you about it. Yeah, I like that. Well, all this talking about Guitars and Hero-ing makes me fell a bit rock 'n' rollish. I'm off to rock out, in the most liberal sense of the word.

it is so happy happy

I love the 80s

Yes, I realize that the show is in its third (yes THIRD) incarnation, but this isn't about some grab for ratings. Of course, the interweb doesn't really have ratings so that should be obvious. Anyways mainly I'm talking about the cartoons. If you've turned on Saturday morning cartoons recently, you've noticed that old shows have gotten the once over and made for a new generation. The lovable TMNT are on Fox with a darker tone and are not the pizza eating cowabungaing guys of yesteryear. These guys fight like ninjas. Transformers has had a few shows since the old days of G1, and now G.I.Joe is on the comback trail with a show that follows those crazy Ninja Toitles in the Sat morning lineup. While they keep the characters alive, the spirit of the old campy shows are lost. Instead of everyone having red and green lasers that they shoot, they use bullets. The new episodes end with a cliffhanger, not a big laugh. While there's nothing wrong with that, in fact I find myself enjoying some of these new shows, It's hard not to compare it to the originals. Hell, I caught five minutes of the new looney tunes show. No, no that kind of looney tunes, I believe it's called "Loonatics" where they're all super heroes and look really jagged. I guess it's just a sign of my age. Some of those old shows don't exactly hold up over 20 years as well as you'd think. While it's interesting to revisit those old days with the advent of tv shows on dvd, just watching the shows doesn't give the full effect. Part of the magic of them was the memories attatched to them. It was about watching it sat morning with friends and then talking about how shredder got shredded for the rest of the week. The shows were good, but the friends made them great. I love the fact that the old tradition of Sat mornings in front of the TV hasn't completely faded, it is definitely a different world we live in. And if you happen to be up and turn on fox or wb and check out whats on, dont expect the same old shows, but be ready for some crazy new fangled action. The new theme songs are weird too, but thats for another time. For now, just recall that G.I.Joe was there, There was more than met the eye, and our Heroes were in a half shell...Turtle Power!

when you reach out for me, yeah, and the feelin' is right

Yeah, I think I like it

Newark, home to UD and some of the most anal meter maids ever. But that's not what I like. I like the actual town. I mean, I can go to class, then take a little stroll down mainstreet and pick up my comics on wednesday and on the way back get a huge freakin slice of pizza for $1.75. And then, if I want, I can walk down to gamestop and pick up a game. All without paying $3 a gallon for gas. And, on top of that, I can do it while listening to the Bee Gees on my PSP. Yeah, it don't get much better than that, well for me anyway. Speaking of comics though, more people should come check out the comic shop. Every wed. is new comic day so you should come down today and check out whats in stock and you'll probably find at least something that interests you. I hope I get paid for giving them a plug on the interweb, but I could never accept such a thing. I'm just doing it out of the kindess of my heart. Yes, I am that nice. But I digress, Newark has the things that I want out of a city that I can walk to, comics, videogames, and pizza. I love it.

you know i've got to be movin on

Halloweeny

It's a shame that Halloween only comes once a year. I've got so many costume ideas that I can't use because I forget by the next year. Mayhaps I should start writing them down...anyway, it's nice to see that not everyone has to act like they're too cool to dress up. I know I was busy snikting people left and right. And if you don't know what snikt means, then I can't help you. I don't usually like being scared, but for this holiday I make an exception and play a few scary videogames (re4 is amazing) and watch some scary movies (the thing is one of my favorites). By tomorrow, or actually today since it's beyond midnight, it will all be forgotten and we'll move on with our lives. But it does my heart good to see people dressing up. If you sit around and think you're too old to have a costume, then you might as well just buy a sweater vest and retire because you've got no fun left to give or have. For the rest of us, we'll continue to have fun without you. Anyways, Halloween is awesome and should not be ignored. So let's all look forward to next year when we can all be someone else for a day. Snikt!
